Ethics
In chapter 2 of our Textbook “Ethical Communications”, we learned that “Ethics is the study of the principles of conduct that apply to an individual or a group.”Technical Communication - University of Arizona.” We further learned also about the golden rule that stands for “treat others as you would like them to treat you.” This statements stands for almost all the companies and is indeed a golden rule. In our case as technical writers, ethics is a big deal as we can compromise ourselves and others if we do not have technical ethics. Three of the many ethical or legal considerations we have to always count for are competence and diligence, confidentiality, and loyalty.
All of these legal considerations were applied in my project #1. To learn and discuss that, we had a specific assignment (DD3HW5). On that assignment we talked about how confidentiality is very important in the workplace so confidential materials are not shared outside a company. We also talked about loyalty, which is an ethical obligation. Loyalty can be understood as acting in the employer’s interest, not our own; and i believe this statement can stand alone when someone needs to understand about ethics and inclusion.
